This article provides a brief introduction to warranty lookups. This includes supported hardware asset types, minimum data requirements for warranty lookups, and how often our warranty dates refresh.
Currently supported hardware asset types
Here's a summary of the hardware assets that we currently support for warranty and/or OS status lookups.
Virtual machines (OS status reporting only)
Printing and imaging devices
If you would like support for a specific hardware manufacturer that we do not currently support, please navigate to Product Ideas and request the name of the manufacturer you would like to see supported. The Navigating the Iceberg: Understanding the Product Ideas Process article outlines the product idea submission process.
The vast majority of our direct OEM lookups are gathered via an automatic process that happens when supported assets are synced into Lifecycle Manager.
There may be a slight variation in the process for our various integrations for networking equipment.
Cisco Smart Net
The Cisco Smart Net integration gives Lifecycle Manager the ability to perform warranty lookups on your existing Cisco assets that are already in your account from other integrations in Lifecycle Manager.
The Cisco Smart Net integration does not directly sync assets from your Cisco account.
The Cisco Smart Net integration is required to qualify the Cisco assets syncing from other integrations for direct warranty lookups from Cisco. To obtain expiration dates for Cisco-based equipment, all you need to do is add the Cisco Smart Net integration.
SonicWall, Meraki, Barracuda Cloud Control
The SonicWall, Meraki, and Barracuda Cloud Control integrations all have the same behavior, in that the assets must also be syncing from that integration to qualify for warranty lookups.
Our platform will also register when you're missing an integration, and recommend you add it on the Issues tab of your Integrations page.
Minimum data requirements for warranty lookups
For each hardware asset that syncs into ScalePad Lifecycle Manager, we require two specific fields for warranty lookups:
In some cases, the exact Model number is required as well.
How often warranty dates refresh
Lifecycle Manager performs regular warranty data refreshes through an algorithm every few days. However, in rare cases, it can take up to 30 days to refresh after the warranty is purchased.
Refresh algorithm - Our platform automatically refreshes the assets in your account giving more priority to the devices that are more likely to be renewed.
Matching device data
We use a combination of serial numbers and MAC addresses as unique identifiers to match hardware asset data.
Duplicate hardware asset entries
If duplicate hardware asset entries are detected, they're matched into one Lifecycle Manager hardware asset, not affecting your total asset count.
