The Hardware settings page is where you manage asset types used in Lifecycle Manager reporting. You can add custom asset types, set replacement values, and choose which data appears in Hardware Lifecycle reports.
Navigating to Hardware settings
To access the hardware settings page:
- Hover over the Settings icon
.
- Click Account Settings.
- Click Hardware from the left navigation panel.
Replacement
The Replacement section shows a table of hardware types.
-
Hardware type
The category of asset, such as Laptop, Server, Firewall, etc. Custom types can be added to match the devices you manage. -
Replacement value
The average cost to replace that type of hardware. This value is used in budgeting and reporting. -
Maximum replacement age
The expected service lifespan for this hardware type before replacement is recommended. Selecting DISABLED prevents Lifecycle Manager from flagging the type for age-based replacement and excludes it from budget forecasts.
You can edit replacement values and ages directly in the table.
Creating a custom hardware type
Create custom hardware asset types when your reporting requires more categories than the defaults in Lifecycle Manager.
|
Note: Custom hardware types can be applied to assets in the hardware console (Assets > Hardware). They are not assigned through integration sync settings. |
To create a new hardware type:
- Click Create new type at the bottom of the hardware type list.
- Populate the required fields:
- Asset type - The name of the asset type you want to add.
- Replacement Value - The average replacement value of this asset type.
- Maximum replacement age - The length of time before this asset type should be replaced.
- Click Confirm asset type to add this type to the list, or click the - icon in the action column to cancel.
Delete a custom hardware type
To delete a custom hardware type:
- Click the trash icon to the right of the hardware type:
- If any hardware items have been assigned the hardware type you are trying to delete, you'll be prompted to reassign them to a new hardware type:
- Click Delete Asset Type.
Due soon for replacement
The Due soon for replacement setting controls how far in advance assets are flagged in a client's hardware lifecycle report before they reach their maximum replacement age. Asset age is determined by the warranty start date.
Choose an option between:
- 90 days
- 120 days
- 180 days
- 1 Year
Assets that meet this threshold will appear as Due soon in the Hardware Lifecycle Report.

The Lifecycle Report section lets you choose which details are included when generating a Hardware Lifecycle Report.
- Show virtual machines - Shows virtual machines in the report.
- Show hardware with unknown warranties - Includes hardware with unknown warranty status in the report.
- Show budgeting - Displays Budget information at the bottom of the report.
