Create API access keys

  1. Sign in to N-able Passportal account as an Administrator

  2. Within the N-able Passportal menu, navigate to Settings API Keys

  3. From the API Keys Management section, click the Create access key button to generate an API access key and an API secret key.

  4. The generated API credentials appear in the Create access key screen.

    1. The Access key ID is displayed while the Secret access key is initially hidden for security reasons.

  5. Click the Show key button.

  6. Once the keys are generated, take note of the API credentials and copy the Access key ID and Secret access key credentials as you will not be able to retrieve it again.

    1. Use the Copy to clipboard button to copy the Secret access key to the computer's clipboard then store the key in a secure location.

    2. The Secret access key is inaccessible after navigating away from this page.

The Secret access key is only viewable in the Create access key dialog. After closing this dialog, the Secret access key is no longer accessible.

Delete an API access key ID

In case you forget your API credentials, simply return to the API Keys Management page and generate new API credentials.

We recommend removing any API Access keys that are no longer required or known to someone who has left your company.

  1. Log into your Passportal dashboard

  2. Within the N-able Passportal menu, navigate to Settings API Keys

  3. Review the Access key id list. This includes when the key was Created and Last used along with its current status.

  4. Click the Delete button (trash can) against the key(s) you wish to remove.

Deleting API keys is permanent. Clicking the Delete button (trash can) removes access altogether as you will not be able to recover the keys at a later time.

When adding the N-able Passportal integration to Lifecycle Manager, you will need to add the API key and API Secret Key to the N-able Passportal integration page.
