Autotask PSA integration instructions

This article provides instructions on how to integrate Autotask PSA to Lifecycle Manager.

Prerequisites

The following is required to add an Autotask PSA integration to Lifecycle Manager:

  • You must have Administrator user credentials for your Autotask PSA account

  • You must have Administrator user credentials for your Lifecycle Manager account or member permissions of Manage Sync Settings selected

  • a non-administrative Autotask PSA API user

How Configuration Items are synced

Configuration Items are synced according to the Product Categories from the Autotask integration page. To view and/or change these mappings, navigate to Integrations and click Autotask PSA after you've set up your Autotask PSA integration.

Create a new API User resource in Autotask PSA

  1. Sign in to Autotask PSA with administrator user credentials.

  2. Within the Autotask PSA menu, navigate to Admin Resources (Users) New + New API User.

  3. In the General pane, enter the following information:

    1. Enter the First Name, Last Name, and Email Address

    2. Set the Security Level to API User (system).

    3. Select the Date, Time, and Number Format.

  4. . In the Security pane, complete the following:
    We recommend you copy the Username (Key) and Password (Secret) to your clipboard, as these fields will need to be entered into Lifecycle Manager to complete the integration.

    1. Click Generate Key to generate a Username (Key)

    2. Click Generate Secret to generate a Password (Secret)

  5. In the API Tracking Identifier pane:

    1. Select Integration Vendor

    2. From the drop-down menu, choose ScalePad - Automated Asset Management

    3. You may see a pop-up letting you know this can't be changed. Click OK to proceed.

  6. Within the Autotask PSA menu, navigate to Admin > Account Settings & Users

  7. Expand Resources/Users section

  8. Under Security, click Protected Data Permission

  9. Select all of the boxes for the API user that's used to integrate with our platform. Select the checkbox in the Edit Protected Data column. All other options in the same row will be selected automatically.

  10. When the previous 9 steps are finished, click Save at the top of the window.

Add API User information in Lifecycle Manager

  1. From Lifecycle Manager, navigate to Integrations and click the Add integration button.

  2. The Add integration page will open. Select the Autotask PSA add integration page.

  3. Paste in / enter the following information:

    1. API Username / Username (Key)

    2. API Password / Password (Secret)

  4. Click Save Autotask PSA Setup

Configuration Items (hardware assets) from Autotask PSA are synced according to their Product Categories. Learn how to view and edit these mappings in our Autotask PSA Sync Settings article.

When you click Save Autotask PSA Setup, Lifecycle Manager performs a full sync. When finished, you should be able to view your hardware assets in your account.
