Linking and Renaming Clients

Ensuring consistency in client names across integrations is crucial for maintaining accurate and clean data. Sometimes, inconsistencies in client names can arise due to variations in the text strings used across different integrations (see the following image as an example). This article will help you link and rename clients to resolve these discrepancies.


Our platform detects hardware assets from your integrations by linking their serial numbers to client names. For seamless integration and accurate reporting, these client names must match exactly across all integrations.

With in-app Client linking, we've removed the effort of renaming them in your integrations.

How it works

When hardware assets are detected as belonging to multiple clients due to naming inconsistencies, you can consolidate these assets under a single client name. This process simplifies your reports and cleans up your in-app data.

Steps to Link Clients

  1. Navigate to the Client's Page:
    1. From the Clients page, select the client you want to link with others. For example, let's select "Garden Mix."
  2. Access the Name & Links menu:
    1. Click Settings > Name & Links on the client's page.
  3. Add Links:
    1. Search for and select one or more clients to link in the Add Links section. For instance, select "Garlic Inc."
    2. Click the Link Selected button.
  4. Confirm Changes:
    1. Click Apply to confirm the changes.

Next to each client's name in the selection menu, you'll see the logo of which of your integrations the client is syncing from. This will help you understand which integration's client name you're working with.

Steps to Rename Clients

  1. Access the Rename Option:
    1. Click the Rename button.
  2. Rename the Client:
    1. Type in the client's new name, or select an existing name from the list.

    2. Click the Use Name button.
  3. Confirm Changes:
    1. Click Apply to confirm the new name.

Steps to unlink clients

If you need to unlink clients, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Unlink Option:
    1. From the Name & Links menu, click the red Unlink icon next to the client you want to unlink.
  2. Confirm Changes:
    1. Click Apply to confirm the changes.

By following these steps, you can ensure that client names are consistent across your integrations.
