The Hardware Lifecycle Report summarizes hardware assets within a client’s environment. With this report, you can quickly and accurately determine the status of hardware assets, including those covered under warranty, those due for renewal soon, and those needing immediate attention. Default Hardware Lifecycle Report
The default report provides a comprehensive view of your client’s hardware assets. It already contains essential fields like asset name, user, make, serial, model, OS, age, purchase date, and warranty expiration date. You can enhance this report by adding the following fields:
- CPU - includes model type
- RAM - includes total memory for an asset
- Storage - includes total storage available for asset
- Last Check-In Date - includes the last time a user has used the device
Customized Hardware Lifecycle Report
For added flexibility, you can create a fully customized report. On the hardware console, you can drill down further by:
- Filtering Data: Narrow down the data to specific criteria.
- Adding/Removing Columns: Customize the report to show only the relevant columns.
- Sorting Data: Arrange the data in columns to highlight important information.
For example, you can create a report for Dell workstations between 3 and 5 years old that do not have a warranty. This report can facilitate discussions around replacement or warranty refresh by presenting information in a format that clients can easily understand to make informed decisions.
Diving into the Report Details
The Hardware Lifecycle Report is structured to provide detailed insights on each page. Let’s explore each section:
Cover page
The cover page offers an overall summary for your client. It features two circular charts:
- Outer Circle: Represents hardware asset status by category.
- Inner Circle: Shows OS support status.
Hardware list page
The hardware list page functions similarly to the Hardware console, but it is specifically tailored for the selected client. It provides a detailed list of devices, making it easy to review the current status of each hardware asset.
Evergreen / replacement budget page
This page presents a sample replacement budget based on the current status of supported hardware assets. It helps align your hardware assets with your Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM) replacement refresh policy, ensuring your client’s hardware remains up-to-date and supported.
