This article will walk you through accessing and customizing account-level insights using the Insights Dashboard, enabling you to make informed decisions about your IT infrastructure.
Accessing account-level insights
To start, here’s how you can view insights that are critical for strategic planning:
- Open the Insights Dashboard: Navigate to the Insights Dashboard by clicking Strategy and then Insights Dashboard on the Top Menu.
- Select an Insight Pane: Once on the dashboard, click into any predefined insight pane. This action displays an overview of the assets and their related information.
Customizing the display of Insights
Understanding that different stakeholders might require various pieces of information, the Insights Dashboard allows for a high degree of customization:
- Basic Information: At minimum, the dashboard will display the asset’s name, serial number, and the client's name and location. This basic data provides a quick reference to identify and locate specific assets within your organization.
-
Configurable columns: For deeper analysis, you can customize the dashboard to include additional columns such as:
- Person Assigned: Shows the contact assigned to the asset from tools like ConnectWise Automate, Autotask PSA, ConnectWise Manage, Halo PSA, IT Glue, and Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
- User: Indicates the last user logged into the asset.
- Type: Distinguishes the asset type, such as Server, Workstation, Virtual Machines (VM), Mobile, Network, or Imaging.
- Manufacturer and Model: Provides brand and model details.
- Processor: Lists the processor type, such as AMD or Intel.
- Purchased and Expires: Shows purchase date and warranty expiration date.
- Memory and Total Storage: Displays available memory and total storage capacity.
- OS: Details the operating system and its version.
- Renew: Indicates the availability of ScalePad warranty coverage.
- Initiative: Shows if the asset is part of a specific initiative.
Filtering account-level assets
For targeted asset management and troubleshooting, the dashboard enables you to filter data effectively:
- By Asset Characteristics: You can filter the assets based on any field, such as manufacturer, asset age, or type, to hone in on specific hardware assets or identify issues like unsupported operating systems.
- By Client: Use the search bar to quickly find assets associated with a particular client, streamlining the process of managing client-specific issues.
-
By Insight: Pre-defined and personalized are available from the dropdown menu under the Insight filter. The power of using Insight filters lies in their ability to mold the data presentation to meet specific management needs:
- Adapting Columns: Depending on the Insight, you might need different data points to make informed decisions. The system enables flexibility to adjust which columns are displayed.
-
Policy-Based Filtering: The filters are derived from the policies set within each Insight. These might include conditions like 'age is greater than X years' or 'manufacturer is equal to Y'. This targeted filtering helps pinpoint specific assets that require attention or meet certain criteria.
-
By forecasted assets: A Forecast filter enables you to see a list of assets that are or will be compliant within specified time frames that range from current, 30, 60, 90, to 120 days.
Forecasted assets are only available for time-based insights.
