Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates or technical support from Microsoft after October 14, 2025. This change brings several challenges for you and your clients. Every device must be evaluated to ensure it meets Windows 11 requirements, which involves checking compatibility, planning necessary hardware upgrades, and coordinating the migration process.
However, the issue goes beyond installing a new operating system. Some PCs may not be compatible with Windows 11 because they have older processors, insufficient memory, inadequate storage, or lack required features such as TPM 2.0. This may mean extensive hardware assessments must be conducted for every client—a process that can be both time-consuming and resource-intensive.
The Windows 11 Insights feature automates compatibility assessments to quickly distinguish upgrade-ready devices from those needing replacement or modification, reducing the extensive manual checks that can lead to migration delays and disrupt service continuity.
Accessing and Using the Windows 11 Insights Feature

In-Depth Overview of Windows 11 Compatibility Insights
Within Lifecycle Manager, a set of automated compatibility insights—supported by key hardware criteria and a new processor filter in the hardware console—enables you to quickly assess whether your clients' devices are ready for the Windows 11 upgrade.
Windows 11 Compatible Devices:
Please note that while the Windows 11 compatible devices assessment evaluates processor, storage, memory, and age to determine Windows 11 upgrade readiness, we cannot guarantee 100% eligibility due to additional criteria. This method provides an estimated 80% confidence level that the device can be upgraded.
-
Description:
Provides a list of client devices that meet the necessary hardware criteria for a Windows 11 upgrade but have not yet received the update.
Processor not Windows 11 compatible:
-
Description:
This critical insight identifies devices with incompatible processors. Devices identified with an incompatible processor cannot be remedied and require replacement. -
Action required:
Review the list of devices flagged with incompatible processors immediately, and schedule their replacement.
Storage not Windows 11 compatible:
-
Description:
Verifies that devices have sufficient storage for the update. -
Action Required:
Examine devices flagged for insufficient storage and take immediate corrective measures—either by freeing up space or expanding storage.
Memory not Windows 11 compatible:
-
Description:
Confirms that devices meet the minimum RAM requirements for Windows 11. -
Action Required:
Evaluate devices flagged for insufficient memory and initiate RAM upgrades to meet Windows 11 requirements
Age not Windows 11 compatible:
-
Description:
This insight is a proxy for the TPM 2.0 requirement, a security feature essential for Windows 11. While there is no formal age limit for an upgrade, devices manufactured before 2018 are less likely to have TPM 2.0 installed. Consequently, this insight flags these older devices, prompting MSPs to verify their TPM 2.0 status before proceeding with an upgrade. -
Action required:
Review devices flagged as manufactured before 2018 and verify their TPM 2.0 status to ensure they meet Windows 11's security requirements. Checking an asset for TPM 2.0 is as easy as opening the Run box and typing "tpm.msc". You're good if the TPM is ready for use and the specification version is listed as 2.0.
What is TPM 2.0? - TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module 2.0) is a security chip in many modern computers that protects sensitive data by securely storing cryptographic keys, digital certificates, and passwords. By providing a dedicated layer of hardware security, TPM 2.0 helps defend against tampering, malware, and other threats—a requirement for Windows 11.
Windows 11 CPU Compatibility Filter
A new processor filter is now available, enabling you to create customized filtered lists and generate tailored insights based on processor information. This filter enables you to segment and analyze device inventories according to specific processor attributes, facilitating assessments of hardware compatibility with Windows 11.
