If you have an existing assessment template that you want to use in Lifecycle Manager, you can upload it from the assessment templates page.
Assessment templates must be in a specific JSON format before they can be used, so we've provided a custom GPT that will convert your existing template into one that Lifecycle Manager can recognize.
This guide will walk you through each step of uploading an assessment template.
|
Note for Lifecycle Insights users: If you have existing assessment templates in Lifecycle Insights, they can be migrated directly to Lifecycle Manager. See Migrating Assessment Templates from Lifecycle Insights to Lifecycle Manager for more information. |
|
Note: Most partners should use the GPT converter to create their assessment template JSON file. If you build or edit a JSON file manually, it must follow strict rules to import correctly. See the JSON requirements section at the bottom of this page before uploading. |
|
What you'll need: To use the Custom GPT, a ChatGPT account is required. |
Step 1: Navigating to the Assessment Templates page
- In the upper right corner of Lifecycle Manager, hover over the
Settings icon.
- From the dropdown menu, click Account Settings.
- In the left navigation bar, click Assessment templates.
Step 2: Converting an existing template
- Create a new template by clicking + New template in the upper right of the page.
- Click Import template.
- In the Import Template modal, click the link to bring you to our Custom GPT Converter:
| Note: ScalePad uses an Enterprise ChatGPT license to run this GPT. Any data entered into it won't be accessible or used for AI training. |
- In the ChatGPT text box, click + to upload your existing assessment and request that it be converted to a reusable assessment template.
- Once complete, download the JSON file and save it in an accessible location.
Step 3: Import your converted template
- Return to the assessment templates page in Lifecycle Manager. Click Upload JSON file in the Import Template modal.
- Choose the file that was downloaded from the Custom GPT converter and click Import Template.
- Review the template and make adjustments where necessary. (Refer to Building assessment templates for guidance on editing each item and category.)
- Click Save changes at the bottom right of the screen to complete the import process and save your assessment template.
JSON requirements
If you choose to build or edit an assessment JSON file manually, review the following rules before uploading. Files that don't meet these requirements will fail to import.
Content limits
- Assessment titles must be 100 characters or fewer.
- Category titles must be 300 characters or fewer.
- Assessments may include up to 300 questions.
- Question descriptions must be 1000 characters or fewer.
Response type rules
- Multi-choice questions must use the MultiResponse type.
- Each MultiResponse question must include all four response labels:
- AtRisk, NeedsAttention, Satisfactory, NotApplicable
- YesNo and Partial questions may only use those specific response types
File structure
- The file must be valid JSON. Any missing brackets, trailing commas, or formatting issues will prevent import.
- The file must begin with this exact root key:
assessment_template_create_payload
Tips
- When copying JSON from the GPT converter, paste it into a plain-text editor before saving to avoid hidden formatting.
- Large assessments may generate multiple JSON section. If you combine them, use a JSON validator to ensure the structure is complete and properly formatted.
