Goal templates let you standardize common client goals (like profitability or customer experience) and reuse them across multiple clients. When you create a goal from a template, Lifecycle Manager can automatically create and link initiatives, keeping your goals and planned work aligned.

Who can use this feature?

  • Partners with Lifecycle Manager X features enabled for a client
  • Users with Manage basic settings permission.

Accessing Goal templates

Goal templates are managed in the Account settings section of Lifecycle Manager:

  1. When logged into Lifecycle Manager, hover over the Settings icon () in the upper right of the screen.
  2. Click Account Settings.
  3. In the left navigation panel, click Goals.

Goals templates can also be accessed directly from the Goals page of any Client Profile by clicking Manage templates.

Understanding the Goal templates page

The Goal templates page is divided into two tabs:

  • ScalePad templates
Predefined templates provided by ScalePad. These give you a starting library of common business goals.
  • Custom templates
Templates created and maintained by your team.

Each tab shows a list of templates with the following columns:

  • Title & Description - Shows the goal title and its summary.
  • Linked initiatives - The number of initiative templates attached to the goal template (if any).
  • Actions - The available actions depend on the tab
    • On the ScalePad templates tab: Save as new
    • On the Custom templates tab: Edit template, Save as new template, Delete template

Creating a custom Goal template

To create a new template from scratch:

  1. On the Goal templates page, click the Custom templates tab.
  2. Click + New template in the upper right corner of the screen.
  3. Enter a Title and Description for the goal.
  4. (Optional) Add one or more Initiative templates so initiatives are created and linked automatically when this template is used.
  5. Click Create template

The new template appears on the Custom templates tab and is available when creating Goals for your clients.

To edit an existing Custom template:

  1. On the Custom templates tab, find the template and click its name (or the Edit icon in the Actions column)
  2. Update the Title, Description or Linked Initiative templates, as needed.
  3. Click Save changes.

Making changes to a custom template won't affect any existing goals created with that template.

Copying and editing a Goals template

To create an editable copy of a template:

  1. On the Goal templates page, find the template you want to use as a base for your new template. (This can be a ScalePad template or a Custom template)
  2. In the Actions column for the template you want to reuse, click the Save as new icon.
    • The template opens in the template viewer.
  3. Adjust the Title, Description or Linked Initiative templates as necessary.
  4. Click Create template in the lower right of the screen to create a new copy of the template in your Custom templates.

The new template is saved and ready to be used when creating a new client goal.
