You can add agreements to Lifecycle Manager in bulk by uploading the documents you already have. Upload contracts, invoices, or quotes and AI drafts the agreements for you, or upload a CSV file with your agreements and line items. Either way, you review every agreement before anything is saved.
Agreements from ConnectWise Manage and Autotask PSA sync automatically. For those, see Importing Agreements from PSAs. To add a single agreement by hand, see Manually creating Contracts.
Opening the importer
You can import from the Agreements page for one client or for all your clients:
- For one client: Open the client, then select Agreements from the navigation panel. Imported agreements are added to that client.
- For all clients: Select Agreements under Manage in the main navigation. You choose the client during the import.
On the Agreements page, click New agreement, then select From file. If the page has no agreements yet, you can click Import instead.
At the top of the importer, choose how you want to import:
-
Create with AI
Upload documents and let AI draft the agreements. -
Import from CSV
Upload a CSV file that follows the Lifecycle Manager template.
Creating agreements with AI
AI reads your documents and drafts agreements with details such as the agreement name, description, price, billing cycle, currency, units, billing start date, and recurring line items.
To create agreements with AI:
- In the importer, select Create with AI.
- Drag your files into the upload area, or click browse to select them.
- If you're importing from the all-clients Agreements page, select the Client the agreements belong to.
- Click Next.
- Confirm the files and client, then click Create draft (or Create drafts when you upload more than one file). When you upload several files, Lifecycle Manager reads them one at a time and shows the progress for each file.
- Review the drafts and click Create to save the agreements you selected. See Reviewing and creating agreements below.
You can upload:
- Up to 5 files at a time
- Spreadsheets (.xlsx), Word documents (.docx), PDFs (.pdf), and images (.png, .jpg)
- Up to 10 MB per file, and 25 MB in total
AI focuses on recurring charges. Taxes, discounts, credits, one-time charges, and usage-based charges aren't added to the agreement. An invoice becomes one agreement. If the invoice lists several recurring products, each one becomes a line item on that agreement.
| Note: Nothing is saved until you review and approve the drafts. Documents are processed by ScalePad under our Terms of Service and are never used to train AI models. |
If a file can't be read, it's marked Needs attention. The drafts from your other files are kept, and you can click Retry failed files on the review step to try again.
Importing agreements from a CSV file
Use a CSV file when you already have your agreement data in a spreadsheet. Each agreement uses one Agreement row for its settings, plus one or more Line Item rows for its pricing. The rows are linked by a shared Agreement Key.
To import agreements from a CSV file:
- In the importer, select Import from CSV.
- Click Download CSV template and fill it in with your agreements. If you download the template from a client's Agreements page, the client name is already filled in.
- Drag your CSV file into the upload area, or click browse to select it. You can upload one CSV file at a time, up to 10 MB.
- Lifecycle Manager checks the file. If any rows need fixing, the file is marked Needs attention and each problem is listed with its row number. Correct the file and upload it again.
- Click Next.
- Review the agreements and click Create to save the ones you selected. See Reviewing and creating agreements below.
CSV columns
The template includes these columns. Every row needs a Row Type and an Agreement Key. Fill in the agreement columns only on the Agreement row, and the line item columns only on Line Item rows.
| Column | Row | What to enter |
| Row Type | All | Required. Agreement or Line Item. |
| Agreement Key | All | Required. A short ID you choose, such as MSA-001. It must be unique for each Agreement row, and each Line Item row uses the key of the agreement it belongs to. |
| Client | Agreement | Required. The client name as it appears in Lifecycle Manager. When you import from a client's Agreements page, it must match that client. |
| Agreement Name | Agreement | Required. |
| Agreement Description | Agreement | Optional. |
| Agreement Status | Agreement | Optional. Active or Inactive. Defaults to Active. |
| Agreement Category | Agreement | Optional. |
| Agreement Location | Agreement | Optional. |

| Line Item Unit Price | Line Item | Optional. If you enter a unit price, also enter a quantity. |
| Line Item Quantity | Line Item | Optional. A whole number greater than zero. If you enter a quantity, also enter a unit price. |
| Line Item Price Type | Line Item | Optional. Actual or Estimate. Defaults to Actual. |
| Line Item Start Date | Line Item | Optional. |
| Line Item End Date | Line Item | Optional. Can't be before the line item start date. |
| Line Item Is Billable | Line Item | Optional. true or false. Defaults to true. |
| Note: Every agreement needs at least one Line Item row. If a line item has a total price, a unit price, and a quantity, the unit price multiplied by the quantity must equal the total price. |
Reviewing and creating agreements
After your files are processed, the review step lists each agreement as a card with its name, price, and number of line items. When you upload several files, each card also shows the file it came from.
- To leave an agreement out: Clear the checkbox on its card. Only selected agreements are created.
- To edit an agreement: Click its card. In the Review agreement window, update the details, such as the Agreement name, Description, Total, Billing cycle, Currency, and Billing start. To change a line item, click Edit next to it, or click Remove to delete it. Then click Save changes.
- To undo your edits: Click the Reset extracted values button on the card to return to the original values.
When you're ready, click Create (the button shows how many agreements will be created). When the import finishes, click Done. The Agreements page refreshes with your new agreements.
If some agreements can't be created, they're listed with the reason on the review step, and the rest are still created. Correct the problem and click Create again to retry.
