You can override a hardware asset's key dates, change its type, and hide it from your default reports. Use date overrides when your integration's data is wrong or when you want to set your own replacement date for a device, for example, when a vendor announces an end-of-support date that falls outside your standard replacement settings.

How to override a hardware asset's dates
You can override three dates for each hardware asset:
-
Purchased date
When the asset was bought. Lifecycle Manager uses this to calculate the asset's age. -
Warranty expiry date
When the asset's warranty coverage ends. This drives the asset's warranty status. -
Replacement due date
When the asset is due for replacement. This drives the asset's Red/Amber/Green replacement status. By default, Lifecycle Manager calculates it from your hardware replacement settings.
To override a date:
- In the left navigation panel, under Manage, click Hardware.
- Click an asset's name to open its details.
- In the details pane, click the context menu, then click Override hardware data.
- Enter a new date in any of the fields you want to change. Each field shows its current value.
- Click Save overrides.
Only the fields you enter a date in change. Fields you leave blank keep their current value.
An override stays in place until you remove it.
How to remove a date override
Remove an override to return a date to the value from your integration, or, for the replacement due date, to the date calculated from your replacement settings.
- Open the asset's details, then click the Context menu icon > Override hardware data.
- Select Remove override for each date you want to reset:
- Remove purchased date override
- Remove warranty expiry date override
- Remove replacement due date override
- Click Save overrides.
How to change a hardware asset's type
To change an asset's type from the Hardware Console:
- In the left navigation panel, under Manage, click Hardware.
- Find the asset, then click its Context menu > Edit Type.
- Select the correct type from the list.
You can also change the type from the asset's details. In the Asset Summary section, click the Type field, then select the correct type.
How to hide a hardware asset from reports
Hiding an asset removes it from your default reports. The asset still appears in the Hardware Console and in custom reports, and it still counts toward your Insights, your DMI score, and your total asset count for pricing.
To hide an asset, do one of the following:
- From the Hardware Console, click the asset's Context menu > Hide in reporting.
- From the asset's details, click the Context menu > Hide in Reporting.
Hidden assets show a Hidden label next to their name in the Hardware Console.
How to restore a hidden hardware asset
To add a hidden asset back to your reports, click its Context menu > Restore to reporting.
