The new Lifecycle Manager UI is in Open Beta
You might notice occasional changes as we continue to refine this feature.

Initiative templates give your team a consistent starting point for common client work. A template can include an executive summary, business value, budget details, and action items, so each new initiative starts with the same structure instead of a blank page.

This article explains how to find, create, edit, duplicate, and delete initiative templates.

Who can use this feature?

  • Partners with a Lifecycle Manager Pro or Lifecycle Manager X subscription
  • Users with the Manage Basic Settings role or the required Initiative Templates permissions.
See Manage roles and permissions in Lifecycle Manager for details on assigning permissions.

How to access Initiative templates

  1. Click your account name, then click Account Settings.
  2. In the Features section of the left navigation panel, click Roadmap.
  3. Click the Initiative templates tab.

Each template is labeled ScalePad or Custom:

  • ScalePad templates are provided and maintained by ScalePad. They're read only, but can be duplicated for editing.
  • Custom templates are ones your team created or duplicated from a ScalePad template. These can be edited and deleted.

How to create an Initiative template

  1. On the Initiative templates tab, click New template. A new, untitled template opens.
  2. Enter a title for the template.
  3. Add the details you want each new initiative to start with, such as an executive summary, business value, related goals, and action items.

Your changes save automatically. The new template is available to your team right away.

How to edit an Initiative template

  1. On the Initiative templates tab, click the Custom template you want to change.
  2. Update the template's details. Your changes save automatically.

Editing a template doesn't change initiatives that were already created from it.

ScalePad templates are read-only. To customize one, duplicate it and edit the copy.

How to duplicate an Initiative template

  1. On the Initiative templates tab, click the Actions menu for the template you want to copy.
  2. Click Duplicate.

The copy opens as a new custom template with (copy) added to its name. The original template doesn't change.

How to delete an Initiative template

You can only delete Custom templates.

  1. On the Initiative templates tab, click the Actions menu for the template you want to remove.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Click Delete template to confirm.

Deleting a template can't be undone. Initiatives that were already created from the template aren't affected.

Using Initiative templates

Your team can start a new initiative from any Initiative template.

You can also add Initiative templates to Roadmap templates and Goal templates, so the Initiatives are created automatically when those templates are used.
