Connect Symbol Security to Lifecycle Manager to sync SymbolSecurity companies and users, and make security-awareness data available for client reviews and reporting.

SymbolSecurity data flows one way into Lifecycle Manager. The integration is read-only.

Who can use this feature?

  • A Lifecycle Manager account with permission to manage integrations or Manage Sync permissions.

What you'll need:

  • A SymbolSecurity MSP account with access to the companies you want to sync.
  • Permission to access the SymbolSecurity API settings.
  • A SymbolSecurity API token

Generate a SymbolSecurity API token

For an MSP-level integration: For more information, see How to use the Symbol API.

  1. Sign in to SymbolSecurity.
  2. Open Command Center.
  3. Go to MSP settings.
  4. Select Integrations.
  5. Locate the SymbolSecurity API section.
  6. Copy the API token and store it in an approved password manager.

SymbolSecurity also supports company-level tokens under Company settings > General > SymbolSecurity API. Use an MSP-level token when you need to sync multiple companies.

If you regenerate the token, the previous token stops working. Update Lifecycle Manager with the new token after regeneration.

Connect SymbolSecurity to Lifecycle Manager

  1. Log in to the ScalePad Hub and click Integrations.
  2. Click + Add Integration.
  3. Search for SymbolSecurity and choose the SymbolSecurity tile.
  4. Enter your SymbolSecurity API key.
  5. Click Connect now.
  6. Confirm that the connection succeeds.
  7. Click Save and sync now.

Your SymbolSecurity companies and users will be available in Lifecycle Manager after synchronization completes.

Fields we are syncing data for

What syncs from SymbolSecurity?

Lifecycle Manager synchronizes:

  • SymbolSecurity companies as Lifecycle Manager clients.
  • SymbolSecurity users as Lifecycle Manager contacts.
  • Security-awareness data used by supported SymbolSecurity workflows, including training assignments and completion status, threat simulations and scores, assessments and assessment assignments, reported phishing results, and company performance totals and risk status.

How syncing works

  • Initial sync: Lifecycle Manager exchanges the API token for a temporary access token, validates access, retrieves accessible companies, and retrieves users for each company.
  • Ongoing sync: Lifecycle Manager refreshes company, user, and supported security-awareness data when the integration runs.
  • Matching: Companies and users are matched using their SymbolSecurity identifiers.
  • User scope: The integration synchronizes active users for the standard contact sync.
  • Direction: Data flows from SymbolSecurity to Lifecycle Manager only.
  • Pagination: SymbolSecurity list endpoints are retrieved page by page.
  • Rate limits: Lifecycle Manager spaces API requests and retries temporary rate-limit responses when SymbolSecurity returns a retry interval.
  • Company errors: A company-specific user retrieval error may be recorded as a warning while other companies continue syncing. Authentication, permission, and rate-limit failures stop the synchronization so they can be retried correctly.

Troubleshooting

Symptom Likely cause Resolution
The connection fails The API token is invalid, regenerated, or does not have access to the required companies Copy the current token from SymbolSecurity and reconnect the integration
No companies appear The token does not have access to any companies Use an MSP-level token or verify company access in SymbolSecurity
Some companies are missing The token does not include those companies Confirm the company is available to the MSP account that generated the token
Some users are missing The users are inactive or unavailable to the API token Confirm the user status and company access in SymbolSecurity
The API token stops working after regeneration SymbolSecurity invalidates the previous token when a new token is generated Enter the replacement token in Lifecycle Manager
The integration is rate limited The SymbolSecurity API limit was reached Wait for the retry interval and run the synchronization again
Security-awareness data is incomplete The vendor response does not include data for that company or object Confirm that the data exists in SymbolSecurity and review the integration status
