The new Lifecycle Manager UI is in Open Beta
You might notice occasional changes as we continue to refine this feature.

The Roadmap page shows your initiatives laid out by quarter, so you can see what's planned, when it's scheduled, and where each initiative stands. You can view the roadmap for all your clients at once or for one client.

Who can use this feature?

  • Partners with a Lifecycle Manager Pro or Lifecycle Manager X subscription.
  • Users with access to view Initiatives.
  • To move or change initiatives on the board, users also need access to update initiatives.

See Manage roles and permissions in Lifecycle Manager.

How to open the Roadmap page

  1. Choose the scope in the client picker:
    • To see initiatives for all clients, clear the client picker by selecting All clients.
    • To see one client's initiatives, select the client.
  2. In the Plan section of the left navigation panel, click Roadmap.

The page has two tabs:

  • Initiatives shows the Roadmap itself, as a board or a table.
  • Templates lets you apply a Roadmap template.

Board columns follow the fiscal year. When you view one client, the Roadmap uses that client's fiscal year. When you view all clients, it uses your account's fiscal year.

What's on the Roadmap

The Roadmap shows your initiatives on a board with one column for each quarter. Each initiative is displayed as a card, and you can click on each one to see and edit its details.

  • Initiatives without a scheduled quarter appear in the Not scheduled column.
  • Each column heading shows how many initiatives are in that quarter, plus their budget and hours totals.
  • You can switch to a table, or group the board by something other than quarter. See How to change how the Roadmap is displayed below for more information on this.

How to choose the time period

The time period controls which scheduled initiatives appear on the Roadmap.

  • Click the arrows to move back or forward one period.
  • Click Today to return to the current period.
  • Click the time period button to choose a range by month, quarter or year.

If the fiscal year doesn't begin in January, you can also switch between Fiscal year and Calendar year in the time period options.

How to find initiatives

  • Search
Find initiatives by name or by client name.
  • Filters
Click Filters to narrow the Roadmap by status, tag, priority, owner, or created or updated date. Use the Schedule filter to show only overdue initiatives. When you view all clients, you can also filter by client. If you have access to Goals, you can filter by Goal.
  • Saved views
Save your filters and display settings as a view so you can return to them later. Saved views are in the Filters menu.

How to change how the Roadmap is displayed

Click Display to change the layout. Your display settings are saved for you and apply whether you view all clients or one client.

  • View
    Choose Board or Table.
  • Board Layout
    • Group By
    • Order By
    • Direction
    • Summary field
  • Fields to display
    Enable or disable specific fields.
  • Visibility
    Enable or disable:
    • Column totals
Budget and hour totals on each column heading.
    • Not scheduled
Initiatives that have no scheduled quarter.
    • Internal
      Initiatives that aren't client-facing.

How to move initiatives on the board

Drag an initiative card to a different column to update it. What changes depends on how the board is grouped:

Group By Dragging a card
Date Moves the initiative to that quarter.
Drag it to Not scheduled to remove its schedule.
Status Changes the initiative's status.
Priority Changes the initiative's priority.
Client, Tag, or None Card's can't be dragged

Changes save as soon as you drop the card. Changes can also be made in the initiative details by clicking on an initiative.

About internal initiatives

Internal initiatives are initiatives you mark as internal because they're for your team's planning only, not for the client. Marking an initiative as internal doesn't change its status.

Internal initiatives:

  • Are hidden from the Roadmap unless you turn on Internal in the Display menu.
  • Never appear when you present a Roadmap.
  • Are never included in Roadmap exports, Roadmap reports, or Deliverables, whatever status or other options you choose.

To mark an initiative as internal, open the initiative, click the overflow menu icon (...) and select Make internal.

What's different when viewing one client versus all clients

Most of the Roadmap works the same for all clients and for a single client. These are the differences:

  All Clients One client
Client filter, field, and column Available Hidden, since every initiative belongs to the same client.
Present Not available Available
Export Spreadsheet only Spreadsheet or Roadmap report (PDF)
Roadmap settings Available to users with the Manage Basic Settings role Not available
Fiscal Year Your account's fiscal year The client's fiscal year

How to apply a Roadmap template

  1. Open the Roadmap page for the client, or for all clients.
  2. Click the Templates tab.
  3. Click the template you want to use. If you're viewing all clients, you choose the client next.

For the full steps, see Managing Roadmap templates.
