How to manually edit hardware assets

In some cases, you may want to make a manual edit on a hardware asset for reporting purposes. With our in-app edit, you can do this.

What access is needed to use this feature?
  • Administrator access
  • Manage Basic Setting access

If you have Two-Way Sync enabled on any of your integrations, Lifecycle Manager will push manually edited dates back into your system(s).

Note: Manual edits remain fixed unless reversed
Make sure you reverse the changes after you've generated your reports. Otherwise, the manual edit will remain.

For example, if you manually edit the expiry date on a hardware asset, and then have its warranty renewed, Lifecycle Manager will not update the expiry date until you undo the in-app edit.

How to manually edit devices in-app

Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your Hardware page and select the hardware asset that you'd like to edit

  2. Click the Edit Info button

  3. Select the appropriate box for each field you want to change, and make your edits

Note: The Due date determines the Red/Amber/Green status for replacement, which is based on either the expiration of the warranty or the age of the asset, depending on your configuration.

Modifying the Due date will specifically adjust the replacement status of this particular asset within reports.

Hiding Hardware assets from reports

Note: Hiding assets will prevent them from appearing in your default reports. They will still be visible in custom reports.

Selecting the optional Hide hardware asset checkbox hides the asset from showing up in your default reports. Valid scenarios to hide an asset include:

  • Excluding assets from reports while keeping the asset active in your integrations

  • Hiding items from your RMM import that you don't want to see in default reports

  • Old systems that still remain in your system that cannot be removed/archived

Note: Insights and DMI should reflect a realistic assessment of your client's environment, so hidden assets count towards any applicable insights and your DMI score.

Hidden assets are identified as such when the asset details are viewed. Assets are only flagged as hidden once you've clicked the Save button.

Hiding assets vs asset counts
Hidden hardware assets are still included in your total asset count for pricing.

Once you've made your edits and clicked the Save button, your edits should be complete.
