Lifecycle Manager uses your integrations to sync hardware assets for reporting. Different integrations have different naming conventions for hardware types.
ScalePad hardware types are assigned to your assets so that Lifecycle Manager can process and present hardware information.
Hardware asset types can be assigned in two ways:
- Automatically, upon syncing in from your integrations
- Manually, from the Lifecycle Manager hardware console.
This article will guide you through configuring your integration sync settings to automatically assign the asset types to hardware syncing into ScalePad.
|
Note: Custom hardware asset types cannot be assigned automatically. They can be adjusted after the initial sync. For more information on assigning custom hardware types to your assets, see: Assigning custom hardware types to assets |
|
Who can use this feature? • Users with Manage Sync Settings permissions in their ScalePad Hub account. |
Navigating to your integration sync settings
To configure the sync settings for your integrated tools, first navigate to the Integrations page in Lifecycle Manager:
- Hover over the settings icon in the upper right of the screen.
- Click Integrations.
- On the Integrations page, click the name of the integration you want to configure asset types for.
| Note: Not all Integrations support automatic hardware mapping. For detailed information on each integration’s sync settings, see Integrations. |
Configuring your hardware sync settings
The process for assigning hardware types is the same for all integrations that feature hardware mapping.
- Scroll to the Configure fields section of the page and click Customize to expand the panel.
- Your configuration types displays the asset types being synced in from your integration.
-
ScalePad hardware type allows you to assign a hardware type that Lifecycle Manager can use.
- Go through each of your configuration types one by one and click the dropdown box under ScalePad hardware type.
- Choose an appropriate ScalePad hardware type that aligns with the configuration type syncing from your integration:
- Server
- Workstation
- Virtual Machine
- Mobile
- Network
- Imaging
- Don’t sync
For example, if you have a configuration type called Windows_Laptop coming from your integration, you can map this as a Workstation under ScalePad hardware type.
- To prevent a configuration type from syncing into Lifecycle Manager from this integration, choose Don’t Sync from the dropdown.
- Once you’ve assigned a ScalePad hardware type to all of the configurations you want to sync, click Save and Sync now at the bottom of the integration sync settings page.
Your integration will sync, and the assigned hardware types will be applied to your assets in Lifecycle Manager.
