Custom hardware types can be created in Lifecycle Manager's Hardware settings.
These custom types are not applied to hardware assets when they sync from your integrations, but instead are applied manually to assets after syncing, using the Hardware console.

This article guides you through the steps of assigning custom hardware asset type to your synced assets.

See Managing Hardware Settings for more info on how to create custom hardware types.

Navigating to the Hardware Console

Asset types can be assigned from the Hardware console. To view all of your managed hardware assets:

  1. Hover over Assets in the upper navigation bar.
  2. Click Hardware.

If you want to view assets assigned to a specific client:

  1. Hover over Home in the upper navigation bar.
  2. Click Clients.
  3. Hover over Assets in the left navigation panel.
  4. Click Hardware.

Applying custom Hardware types to assets

  1. Select the hardware assets you would like to change the asset type for by selecting the checkbox next to the asset name.

  2. Click Change Asset Type in the bottom right corner of the hardware list.

  3. In the modal that appears, click the dropdown and choose the asset type you would like to change the selected assets to.

  4. Click Confirm.

If you are changing a large number of asset's types, it can take up to an hour for your changes to be reflected in-app.
