Initiatives let you organize and plan work for your clients in Lifecycle Manager. They are the building blocks of a client's Roadmap, where you schedule upgrades, replacement hardware, and other recommendations.
This article provides an overview of Initiatives and how they are used.
Initiatives overview
An initiative represents planned client work. You can use Initiatives to organize recommendations, such as hardware replacements, software upgrades, infrastructure improvements, or other work for your clients.
Each initiative appears on a client's Roadmap, giving you a clear way to plan and review upcoming work.
Initiative details
When you create a new Initiative or click an existing one in a Roadmap, the Initial Detail view opens. This is where you enter and manage all information related to the planned work.
An Initiative can include an executive summary, status and priority, scheduling information, contact details, and meeting links. It can also include financial information such as one-time and recurring fees.
To help track progress, you can link Action items, associate Goals, and connect relevant hardware assets.
If you have a supported integration (such as Halo PSA or ConnectWise Manage) connected to ScalePad, you can create or link PSA tickets and opportunities, and link Quotes directly from Quoter that will appear in your Initiative.
You can also apply templates, export an Initiative as a PDF and manage it directly from this view.
For a full explanation of each section in the Initiative Details view, see Understanding the initiative Detail view.
Default Initiative templates
Initiative templates are designed to simplify the creation of Initiatives by pre-populating them with best-practice content.
Lifecycle Manager includes a set of default Initiative templates that cover common types of work, such as:
-
Hardware modernization
Examples: Cloud Migration, Server Replacement, Workstation Replacement -
Software modernization
Examples: Install Endpoint protection, Upgrade to Microsoft 365, Upgrade Servers to Supported OS, Upgrade Workstations to Supported OS -
Asset protection
Examples: Server Warranty Coverage, Workstation Warranty Coverage
When applying a template, all default Initiative templates appear at the top of the template list, with any custom templates your team has saved listed below them.
Initiatives on the Roadmap
On a Roadmap, Initiatives appear as condensed cards grouped by time period. Each card shows the Initiative title, status, associated fees, and any Goals that they are associated with. Icons at the bottom of the card indicate priority, the number of associated hardware assets, and any linked tickets, opportunities, or Quotes.
Click an Initiative card to open the Initiative Detail view, where you can review or update its full details.
Initiatives are visible on both client-specific Roadmaps and the Global Roadmap. For more information about working with Roadmaps, see:
